That is what I have been working on since I sort of vanished from the website here. I worked on two books at once. I just finished the second one at the beginning of this week and sent it off to the publisher. Yes, I am exhausted!
I normally try to space out my writing, if I can. At the beginning of the year, if I have a contract with one of my non-fiction publishers, I work on the non-fiction work. I then spend the second half of the year writing a new fiction work, and also editing and publishing a new work of fiction.
This year, however, Schiffer Publishing made me a deal for a book currently titled “Chicago’s Unsolved Mysteries.” Then, I pitched a story for my first hard-boiled detective series to a publisher. Most publishers take months to review a query and get back to you. This one got back to me in two days. Then they wanted the first 30 pages. I whipped that up and turned that in, and they got back to me in a day! Now they wanted the whole thing! So, I spent my days doing freelance work then time on the fiction work and then the non-fiction book.
I hope that both books will be on shelves or available for Kindle and Nook downloads within a year. I am quite proud of both efforts and I think you will enjoy reading them both.
